Veterans can travel for free on Steamship Authority ferries on Veterans Day. — MV Times

The Steamship Authority will provide free passenger service to all U.S. military personnel on Veterans Day on November 11.

All veterans, including active duty, military veterans, and retired military veterans, who have a valid military ID, honorable discharge or retired status can travel as a passenger for free on all Steamship Authority ferries. 

On November 11, veterans can pick up their complimentary passenger ticket at any Steamship Authority ticket office prior to boarding.

Following a trial run in 2019, the Steamship Authority Board voted to make this promotion an annual Veterans Day event.

    bicycle for free too ?
    No mention of the “real ID ” as proof.
    My drivers license has that little gold star
    on it. Hope that’s good enough.

  2. How about making it possible for Veterans on the island having an easier time getting same day medical reservations to and from without jumping through all kinds of hoops and getting put on wait lists!!
    Don’t act so damn patriotic one day a year!!

      What about active service?
      Police, Fire?
      Peace Corp?
      Congressmen?
      Those on Social Security
      Anyone paid by tax dollars.
      How about just those that retired after twenty years?
      Were actually in combat?

    3. Woody– There are other forms of patriotism
      than just supporting veterans.
      Some veterans are even against supporting
      Ukraine in their fight to keep their country
      from being overrun and their people slaughtered
      by a ruthless communist dictator. When I was in the
      military, the battel was to keep communism
      out of South East Asia.
      I think the SSA should give free passage to
      anyone with a Ukrainian passport.
      They after all , are defending our freedom.

          How many homeless veterans
          are at your house ?
          And tell me that Ukrainians
          are not at the forefront of the
          battle against communist expansion and
          dictatorships ? You know–
          The things that millions of real patriots
          have fought and died for.

          You do not support fighting the the Communist Russians (they dropped the Communist name but not the form of government).

    Two years as a Army supply clerk in Kansas?
    General Discharge Veterans?
    Felon Veterans.
    Veterans doing hard time for trashing the Capitol , and making soil bank deposits.

  4. I look forward to the day when we don’t have to publicize this and it’s an everyday thing, I know I’ll drop dead well before this happens but wouldn’t be nice!
