A car crash near the intersection of Franklin Street and Center Street drove a white vehicle up a stone wall and broke the fencing of 29 Franklin St. on Friday morning. A gray Subaru Outback was able to be moved to a street parking spot on Center Street.
Tisbury Police, State Police, and Tisbury EMS were on the scene blocking off the segment of Franklin Street between where it meets Church Street and Center Street. Four emergency response vehicles were present at the crash site. A State Police officer on the scene told The Times nobody was hurt. JWL Transport arrived a little past 11 am to tow away the white vehicle.
The vehicle could be seen with a dent in its right-side passenger door. The Subaru had a dent below its left tail light. It is uncertain whether these were from the crash.
A car ran up the walls of this house’s stone wall in December 2021. The speed radar on the Franklin Street–Center Street intersection, installed in August, was missing from its signpost. Tisbury Police Chief Chris Habekost was not immediately available for comment.

That’s where they installed inane curb extensions where it makes it diffilct to make the turn.
Pretty bad intersection there, I think the MVC has a chart indicateing the worst intersections in VH, 5 Corners being #1.
How about changing the direction on that street temporarily and see if it reduces the amount of incidents there
Many years ago we spent the summer of ’78 across the street in Phoebe Eschelman’s old house. One night there was a loud crash; a car had crashed right into the front door of that same house. A helper came running shouting “any P.I.’s? Any P.I.’s? One of the two unhurt fellows in the car got out, billowing clouds of pot smoke around him, asking “What’s that? poison ivy?”
The renovation is beautiful, thankfully a low stone wall saved the day this time.

I hope this story develops further because it sure was hard to tell what happened from the words alone. In the photos that “white vehicle” looks like a car, probably an SUV. The photos also show a stone wall so low that it’s hard to imagine a vehicle that size going up it. It’s never stated that the gray Subaru was involved in the crash — was it? Finally, the lead sentence says that “a car crash . . . drove a white vehicle up the stone wall.” This cracked me up. Fortunately there were no cars nearby and I was not injured.
