On Wednesday, April 17, at 4:30 pm, the West Tisbury library will present a talk with local author Andrea Rogers. According to a press release, Andrea will present her newly released book, “My Granma’s Pearl-Handled Dagger.” Books will be available for purchase and signing, and refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
“My Granma’s Pearl-Handled Dagger” is about Rogers’ grandmother’s incredible life story. Her family, faced with starvation, fled their homeland in 1889 to arrive at the disease- and rat-infested tenements of the Lower East Side, New York City. Discover her true story of survival, filled with gripping testimonials of poverty, courage, betrayal, true love, and secrets kept for 105 years.
Andrea L. Bellusci-Rogers was born in New York, and now lives on Martha’s Vineyard. She came from a long line of Italian Immigrants. Her childhood was filled with a treasure trove of rustic quotes to remind her of life’s motifs according to Italian peasant society. They carved a unique understanding of wisdom through ancient eyes. These axioms are as true today as they were hundreds of years ago.
